Die Gesteine und ihr Fossilinhalt geben Auskunft über das Leben in der Devonzeit (vor ca. 370 Mio. Jahren). In dem am Boden eines Meeres entstandenen Gestein, dem Adorf-Bänderschiefer, sind Ostrakoden (Muschelkrebse) und Trilobiten (Dreilappkrebse) erhalten. Für Geowissenschaftler ist der Steinbruch besonders interessant, da er die Gesteine des Kellwasser-Horizontes zeigt, die ein weltweites Aussterbeereignis während des Oberdevons dokumentieren. Diesem fielen zahlreiche Tier und Pflanzengattungen zum Opfer. Um den Cache zu loggen, beantwortet bitte folgende Fragen: 1. Nenne mindestens zwei der seltener zu findenden Fossilreste. 2. Wie dick ist die Kalksteinbank unter dem Kellwasser-Horizont? Die Antworten findet ihr bei N 51° 16.694 E 008° 40.308 Bitte stellt außerdem ein Foto von Euch mit eurem GPS mit dem Steinbruch im Hintergrund ein. Am besten stellt ihr euch dafür in die Mitte der Spirale. N 51° 16.690 E 008° 40.295 Bitte schreibt die Lösungen nicht in eure Logs, auch nicht verschlüsselt. Logs ohne Foto und Freigabe werden nicht akzeptiert und gelöscht. Quarry at "Henkböhl" near Usseln In the former municipal quarry close to the mountaininn "Büller Höhe " two information boards demonstratively describe geology and history of the quarry and its closer environment. The rocks and their fossil contents give information about the life in the Devonian time ( approx. 370 million years ago). In the rock, formed of "Adorf-Bänderschiefer" (a special slate), developed at the ground of a sea, Ostracods (shell cancers) and Trilobates (trilobate cancers) are enclosed. For geo scientists the quarry is particularly interesting, as it shows the rocks of the "Kellwasser horizon", which documents a world-wide ongoing extinction during the upper Devonian, where numerous animal and plant kinds fell victim. To claim the cache please answer the following questions: 1. Name two of the rarely found fossilrelics. 2. How thick is the limestonebed beneath the "Kellwasser-horizon"? Der Steinbruch am Henkböhl war der für mich schönste während des Center Parcs Urlaub.
Bei verschneitem Winterwetter gabs in einer schönen Ecke auch noch was zu lernen.
